Mill Valley Public Library / info >

The City of Mill Valley needed to expand and renovate their beloved library set amongst redwoods in Old Mill Park. The original building was designed by Wurster Bernardi Emmons in the 1960s. The library's large open reading room, redwood paneling and hardwood furniture make it a cherished place in the community. The site for the new building needed to skirt the redwood trees and preserve the view from the existing reading room. Our three story addition, which included a new children’s reading room, a fiction stacks area, and a community room, increased the library's area by a third while preserving its character and special setting overlooking a creek.
